DIAL-A-RIDE APPLICATION HERE
If you have a disability or condition which prevents you from using a lift or ramp equipped bus some or all of the time, you may be eligible for Yakima Transit’s Dial-A-Ride Paratransit Service some or all of the time. Age or the inability to drive are not considered qualifying factors. View Rules.
To Apply:
- Fill out the application form or have someone fill it out for you.
- Have Part 3 (Professional Verification) completed and signed by a licensed medical or mental health professional knowledgeable of your abilities or conditions.
- Sign the application, along with the Applicant Agreement and Release of Information
- Return the completed application form.
- Yakima Transit will process your application and notify you within 21 days after the completed application arrives in our office. If an application is not processed within 21 days, presumptive eligibility is granted on the 22nd day until or unless the application is denied in writing.

The information you provide will be used to make a decision about your eligibility for Dial-A-Ride Paratransit Services. It is important that all parts of this application are completed. Incomplete information may delay processing of your application.

Service Area:
The initial pick-up address must be within the Yakima City limits. The service area for Yakima Paratransit Dial-A-Ride is as follows:
- The Yakima City limits and/or 3/4 of a mile from a bus route.
This means the majority of Selah and a lot of Union Gap are outside of the service area. The cities of Selah and Union Gap also have Paratransit Dial-A-Ride services. Selah Dial-A-Ride can be reached at (509) 619-1639. Union Gap Dial-A-Ride can be reached at (509) 574-8000.
Door-to-Door Service:
Yakima Transit provides door-to-door service for Dial-A-Ride clients. View our door-to-door policy.
No-Show Policy:
Dial-A-Ride No-Show / Late-Cancellation policy is available here. If you need to cancel a ride, call (509) 248-1119 as soon as possible and at one (1) hour before the scheduled pick‑up time to avoid a no‑show. If you have scheduled a return trip that you no longer need, be sure to cancel that as well. Cancelling rides in advance helps Yakima Paratransit Dial-A-Ride run on time and avoids risking a no‑show penalty point. Aside from cancellations, no changes can be made to any trips on the day of your scheduled ride, including the time of travel or any address changes.
Eligibility Appeal Process:
If you disagree with the eligibility decision, you can appeal. Here is what you do:
- Within sixty (60) days of receiving the eligibility determination notification, write a brief letter telling us why you disagree.

Yakima, WA 98902 - Participate in an evaluation of your functional ability to use the bus, if requested.
- When notified of the date, participate in an appeal meeting either by attending in person (transportation will be provided for you at no cost), sending written information or participating by phone or video call.
The appeal meeting will be held within 30 days after receiving your appeal letter.
You will be notified of the final decision within 30 days of the appeal meeting. Once the final determination has been made, the eligibility process is completed.
If at any time in the future you feel your condition has changed, you may reapply from ADA Paratransit Service.
Paratransit Riders Visting Yakima
Visitors who present documentation that they are ADA Paratransit certified in the jurisdiction in which they reside, shall be provided with ADA Paratransit service in the Yakima Transit service area.
Visitors that are unable to present ADA Paratransit eligibility documentation will be required to provide proof of residence and, if visitor’s disability is not apparent, of his/her disability.
Visitors who qualify may use Paratransit services for up to 21 days during any 365-day period.
